HELLOEVERY ONE!!!
I come back with a very easy question, I need to analyze Fatty acids, but I dont have a FID (almost for a whyle) I think that I can do it in my ECD I just doing the derivatization with some halogenated agent, I would like to know if somebody has done it before, I am Afraid to contaminate may detector and injection port I am talking about 'Alot of fatty acids on my samples (srimp feed). I jus want to know opinios about it. any special care? any advise?

Thanks

Hello again, still I am looking for some aplication for Fatty acids analysis with ECD, I don't have FID at this moment, the lab boght recently two new GC but neither with FID, and I dont think that they want to buy another one
any Idea about the best derivatizating agent for this?
You can check out this reference for the preparation of fluorinated esters. Sonesson, Larsson, and Jimenez, Journal of Chromatography, vol.417 (1987) pp. 366-370. I have not done this analysis but this should be what you are looking for.

Please consider aftersales service at first priority. Agilent GCs are very good but service is generally not good in most of the world.

You have many GCs, If one of them has a TCD you can do your smples by Esterification to Methyl Esters. This is the standard technique with FID but you will get result with a little less sensitivity from TCD.
