Since drug discovery is highly throughput-driven, it would seem UHPLC has to be preferred for analytical scale applications (eg., routine purity assessment, post-synthesis identification and analysis of new chemical entities, etc).

I'm curious to know if conventional HPLC has been rendered all but obsolete except for preparative scale applications (again, in drug discovery, pharma industries).
