Wall-boy: is the 35900C an internal (inside-computer) A/D board?

I haven't been able to get any internal A/D boards to work with anything newer than Windows 95 or NT4, if memory serves. So these days we have two external A/D boxes on our units, both 35900E; we used that with Windows 2000 and A.09 and now with Windows 7 and OpenLab, and now have LAN 35900E control.

I think HP35900D is a ADC board (maybe ISA)

HP35900 is external ADC, last letter indicate MIO board installed (HPIB-RS|INET|Jetdirect)

So the HP35900 "C" has RS232 and GPIB.
And with 'antonK's' info all HP35900 "x" with GPIB support should use the same GPIB command set.
The general GPIB Commands as "*IDN?" etc. does not work for me yet.

Is there any simple test software to access the HP35900 via GPIB ?

IDN*? is for test-and-measurement instruments only (oscilloscopes, generators etc )

Analytical HP/Agilent instruments ALWAYS use own proprietary non-standard protocols.

the only "test" software for this moment is Chemstation itself.

I used IO Libs 15, only thing i have actually.
Checked on "\r\n\" and "\n" and some other and several timeout settings.

35900D is a hybrid of HPIB and ADC on single ISA-board
