No option for argon as carrier on 6890?

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello,

I wanted to do some tests with my 6890 GC (continuing the stuff from my previous thread) using argon as the carrier, but I am surprised to find that there is no option for argon in the configuration menu or in ChemStation. For the inlet, I just find Argon/Methane 5% (apart from helium, nitrogen and hydrogen) and for the TCD, the only options are He, N2 and H2.

Am I missing something here? Does it mean that I cannot use argon, then?

Thanks for your help!
Select argon/methane - the viscosity is the only thing that the GC cares about.

For the TCD choose nitrogen, aside from viscoity, the TCD will use a lower current with argon/nitrogen than it can for helium/hydrogen.
Where can I buy the kit they use in CSI?
