I recently changed the computer for the Varian 3900 GC. I assigned an IP address for the GC and the LAN card in the GC. On the computer it shows that there is a connection, but when I open the software, the software says no communication with instrument. Does anyone know how to get it to communicate with each other?

Thanks!
I thought the bootp listener picked up the GC and made the connection? Have you tried unplugging any other network connections and rebooting both? We have this problem with our wirelss dongle as we haven't set up the subnetting properly, once the connection is made the wireless can be plugged back in, it just inteferes with them finding each other.
Where can I buy the kit they use in CSI?
Hi

Is the pc IP address in much the same format as the GC's? I.E if you have the GC as 10.1.1.101, the PC should be 10.1.1.x

Also check your firewall settings.
I called Agilent and they were really helpful! It turns out I had three network cards with the same subnet. It was suppose to be different.

Thanks for your responses!
