Inquiry on Agilent 7000 vs Thermo TSQ 8000 GCMS

Hello!
At the moment, we are in the process of upgrading our Agilent 6890 and 5975B MS for our metabolomics study on rice. We want to maximize the detection so we are thinking of upgrading to a triple quad either Agilent 7000 or Thermo TSQ 8000 GCMS. Which do you think is a better instrument in terms of sensitivity, maintenance, software/data processing, etc? Thanks! :alien:

What do you think a Triple will offer in this case ? You say you want to maximise detection ? Do you have a sensitivity issue or a matrix issue ? GC/MS/MS can offer an improvement in the sensitivity towards target compounds. Are you doing target analysis ? Do your targets have good ions on which to carry out MS/MS ?

Before you splash out on a triple consider that GC TOF like the Dani are a similar cost and may offer advantages.

If you have not reached the stage in your study when you have target peaks that you need to identify, the extra specificity of a triple quad will not be useful. If you do not know what you are looking for then you need to be able to detect as wide a range of compounds as possible.
