Plan to look at 16 PAH from road samples by GC but I am unsure on the best extraction method. Suggestions please ?
from EPA: http://www.epa.gov/osw/hazard/testmetho ... s/3561.pdf

but what I normally do is pretty simple:
1. Extract using methylene chloride
2. sonicate (I use a horn for that, I think sonication baths are sufficient but not according to EPA)
3. then I condense (I use a TurboVap system with 500mL evaporation tubes with a 1mL endpoint.)
4. I condense to 1mL (I usually start with 30-50g of sample) and analyze using GCMS
*I usually perform the methylene chloride extraction/sonication three times
**The MeCl2 is ran through a glass funnel containing anhydrous sodium sulfate for drying
Thanks, customer has decided to stick to contracting out the samples.
