LAC/E replacement

Due to the end of XP support, I'm looking to replace some of our LAC/E boxes. However due to costs, we're looking to move away from LAC/E boxes and replace them with a PC from a major manufacturer (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.)

Unfortunately I know the BusLAC/E card may not fit in the PCI slot of a given case (especially small form factors).

Anyone have suggestions on what to use as an acquisition server alternative to a Waters LAC/E box? (Plan to install Empower 3 on the PC).

Thank in advance for any responses!

Interestingly enough, Waters has also switched (to Dell).
Their BUS-LAC/E board goes into a nore or less sideways PCI slot in a case that is thinner than a mini-tower, but is as tall/deep as one.

Just make sure you use a quality PC with a PCI slot and room for enough extra NICs (PCIe or whatever) to accomodate your assorted inputs.
Also be aware that there is no Windows driver for any old Equinox boards you may have. Waters does have a replacement item available, but adding jet direct boards to any A1100 systems you have is probably cheaper (unless you were running several per LAC/E), not to mention faster.

Also note that when you move to E3, you will need to have your license count correct (well - at or above numbers for each type of instrument)for all instruments.

We use HP PCs instead of a LACE.
We only purchase a LACE when we need a QUAD-LACE for System licenses.

But if you change your OS from XP to Windows 7 64Bit the BUS-LAC/E board is not supported under Windows 7.
So the question is for what did you use the com ports.

I'm pretty sure we've got a LAC/E running W7 and a BUS-LAC/E board (half height, PCI).
Not sure if it's the 64 bit version off the top of my head...
