Varian 3800 Display Panel, Horizontal Lines

Hello, I work with a Varian CP-3800 GC and fairly recently the display panel began to show one or more horizontal lines in addition to and on top of the usual display. The lines start on the leftmost side and proceed clear to the rightmost. The number and vertical position of these lines changes occasionally (from one to four), but at least one or two remain regardless of what actions I take. The appearance created is similar to a "strikethrough" effect.

The instrument appears to operate as usual, but I worry that this could be a symptom of something more harmful. I cannot find any reference to this issue in any manual or troubleshooting guide. Hopefully it is just a display error if anything, but I would appreciate any insight or feedback on the issue. Thank you.

Finally fixed this... Eventually the lines overlaying the instrument's LCD interfered with the ability to read the display and I had to replace it. Replacement was quite easy, though not cheap.

For any unlucky folk who may have this problem in the future: The front panel is held on by two screws at the top right and left, and two tabs at the bottom of the plastic paneling. It lifts out easily with the top of the instrument removed. The malfunctioning screen and board unit (P/N 392535901) was exchanged with the new one, and now everything looks great.
