Thinking about purchasing a 4551A water only auto sampler from OI analytical for volatiles analysis and have no previous experience with this autosampler. Does anyone have any experience/info about this autosampler . I would like to know about how reliable it is and any issue you may have had with it in the past.

They are pretty reliable, but you have to be sure to pay attention the the water levels in the wash and waste vials - the timing has to be adjusted correctly or they will overflow, with a big chance to wreck the board at the back of the unit. Dealing with that right now, as one of our techs likes to throw away the vials.

It is also very easy to place the sample tray poorly. This will allow the needle probe to drill into the sample tray, causing some expensive issues.

A nice point about them is the rinse water is pump driven, rather than pressure driven like some systems - we lose a lot of gas to leaks with the pressure driven systems.
