How well does Xenon in Nitrogen respond to a Nitrogen carrier/reference/makeup TCD? Can I achieve 10ppm?

The thermal conductivity values have a difference that is small in comparison to Helium or Hydrogen. This suggests the response you seek will not be seen if using nitrogen or argon as a carrier gas. Maybe 1% or 0.1% might be detectable but not 10 ppm.

Helium or hydrogen is suggested as the best choice.

best wishes,

Rod is right with Helium or H2 as carrier gas for maybe 10ppm detection in best condition using TCD.

If you want to go lower in concentration and have accurate reading from 10ppb to 1000ppm Xenon in Nitrogen. I can suggest you to use the PlasmaDetek(PED) from LDetek (www.ldetek.com) . Please contact me at dgagne@ldetek.com for more information. You can use Argon as carrier gas in this case which is low cost comparing to Helium.
