Agilent E5810A for upgrading older GC/MS systems to LAN

I was wondering if anybody has used the E5810 LAN/GPIB gateway for upgrading the older GC/MS systems to LAN communications? I would like to use the newer version of Chemstation E.00 with our 5972 mass specs but they use the GPIB connectors and the newer chemstation only supports LAN communications. I requested a quote from Agilent about a year ago for upgrading a GC/MS system with a JetDirect LAN Smart Card and it was very expensive, I can't remember the exact amount but I believe it was close to 10,000 dollars. I see the E5810 gateways on Ebay for about 800 dollars and getting two of them, one for the GC the other for the MS, seems like a much cheaper, and easier to set up, option. Anybody know if this will work?

I don't think it will work, mainly because there is not a configuration available in the new chemstation for a 5972, G1701BA for windows 2000 is the latest MS chemstation that has the 5972 in the instruments configuration file. We can offer a brand new build computer with Win 2000, G1701BA and the 82350B card for $1600
