Agilent 6890 - Sig 2 buffer full

I am getting a frequent message on the LCD panel of our 6890 GC-FID system: Sig 2 buffer full. This is holding us up from running. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get around this problem?

We are running A.10.02 GC Chemstation. The system has only 1 detector installed at position 1 (signal 1). So for the signal 2 buffer message, what could be causing this? We are really needing to resolve this issue ASAP to be able to run larger sequences. It periodically pops up half way during an overnight sequence run and prevents the system from finishing.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

1. We occasionally get such on our displays.

2. I have absolutely no idea what it means.

3. We typically push a button, like Oven, to clear it.

4. Then we run our assays, has not been an issue.

This can happen when the GC drops the connection with the PC running it. Do not use screen savers or allow the PC to go into hibernation. There is also a firmware (chips on the GC boards) upgrade which will allow the GC to continue despite the signal buffer error.

I think you have checked the box for data acquisition in det 2 of the GC ChemStation. Simply de-select it and you won't find it happen again. Also to clear the buffer, simply turn off the computer and GC and turn it on again would work.
