Chemstation will not turn on MSD during run

Hi everyone,

I've watched the board for some time and now find myself in need of advice.

I'm working with an 5975C MSD and sometime over this weekend during a run the Chemstation has stopped turning on the filament during a sequence. There is no solvent delay dialogue box either. The GC is a 7890A. The MSD appears to be working fine, all the tunes and results are good and there are no other problems (e.g. disconnected cords, error on the MSD etc.) I could find. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Mike
The ChemStation versions I've used have a "Use MSD" box to check (put an X in).
Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I had checked this and the cable connections previously with no success. Everything seems to be connected and communicating except for this. All the IPs are ok, all instruments located, the MSD display shows that the method is loaded and it even displays the method is being run – so there is just something not triggering it to come on.

I have never had the cable between the GC and MS fail (The Y-cable), but maybe this is a possibility?...

Any more ideas? Thanks agai.
Have you rebooted the MS? I have had both of my 5975s hang with some internal navel gazing on the smart card.
When they were unresponsive to keypad entry I have turned them off for a couple of seconds. It usually works.
We too have seen this - and agree with Steve, if you don't see the solvent delay message, the only cure seems to be to power cycle the MS . If anyone out there knows of an alternative way to re-boot the MS we would be very intereted.
Thanks for the advice, it seems the power cycling worked.
