I have several cal bottles that are several years past date on bottle. What are the potential effects of this?

They MAY not give an accurate calibration. And again they might.

It depends upon the matrix and the analytes in question.

Generally if a loaf of bread is past its 'best by' date it may be mouldy or dried out, unedible, or it might be fine for toast but not for sandwaiches....... or again it might be great for eating in every way.

It is a definitely a maybe decision.

I would get new ones, that way you know for sure that will not be a possible problem down the road.

A man that is wise and has money for new cal stds usually does not have to waste money and time on old questionable cal stds.

Those who don't have money, usually spends as much, and maybe more money than he anticipated.

You could ask the supplier to re-analyse them, or you could do this yourself, it depends a bit if you are working to a quality system. How many standards, and what is in them? What sort of work are they being used for?
