Message during tune - Agilent 5975C

I get this message during Autotune and DFTPP tune and don't know what it means. The message disappears after a few seconds and the tune completes. If you can't see in the image, it says "GetGainData terminated prematurely: The valid range for EM Volts is 0 to 3000". The EM volts on the reports usually come out around 2100, which is within the range. So I don't understand the problem.

It's normal. I think it has something to do with calculating the gain factor.
Still sleepy. I don't get that messsage . Tuning @2100 , when was the last time the source was cleaned? How many peaks are there shown in the spectra window. If it's more than 200 you should clean.

That happens to us on one of our 5975s. I think it cannot complete that gain procedure when the EMV needs to be replaced. Ours still meets our needs so we just ignore it.
The forest of noise peaks is normal, btw - ordinarily you won't see that screen for very long, but it is part of the autotuning process.

To further elaborate, I believe it is trying to set up another tune file (gain.u ??)that uses whatever gain factor you have selected - when the base tune sets the EM to 2100, it is likely trying to use a setting higher than the 3000V max, so the software routine fails. Agilent tells people to replace the EMV earlier than many labs are used to is all.

It was cleaned recently - probably less than 20 injections since. It's been cleaned several times since this started happening and it happens every tune, even the first one after cleaning.
I've never counted the number of peaks. Never understood what it was doing so I never bothered trying to count.

Thanks for the reply.
