Automated sample Preparation

Hi All,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post.

I work with a very well known Analgesics /cough/cold product. Its active ingredients are well characterized. In other words it is very simple to test for via HPLC and not much can go wrong with it.

However, the sample prep is very labor intensive….weigh into volumetric, add X amount solvent, shake, top up, filter and then dilute. When you have many samples we end up taking days to do all the sample prep. Then sometime repeats have to be carried out.

So my question is: Do any of you know off or work with any automated sample preparation kit that makes your life simpler.

As we are a big company money is not too much of a problem.

Thanks

Dave

Contact Waters! They used to have systems that automated related tasks.

Zymark, Hamilton, Gilson, others all have stuff that they would be happy to show you.

Zymark are now known as Caliper I think.

I would hazard a guess and would say they are proabably one of the leaders in the automated sample prep. market. I have seen workstations for tablets and blend analysis and they seem to be able to perform all the prep. work you are asking about (although don't quote me on that).
