Hi,

I have installed a Varian HPLC equipment (ProStar 240 pump + ProStar 325 UV detector) some years ago and despite its vulnerability I have been working normally. Some months ago it suddenly stoped to work correctly.
In few words the problem is the following. When you give "monitoring baseline" the software responds "Running" but no baseline appears, while when you give "Quick Start" the software responds "Waiting for injection" (at the bottom of the screen) despite you give the command to start data aquisition from injection valve or from software (Galaxie ver. 1.9) itself. Indeed, data aquisition never starts. Other things are OK. I am sure the signal comes from UV dedector to the software since you can see at the dedector status mAU values changing. Other people working with the same machine in my countr seems to have the same problem, too. PC formatation and software re-installation geve no result.

Could someone give me any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Leonard
The only problem we had with this system was the lamp not igniting. System had to be rebooted numerous times soemtimes before the lamp would ignite.

Generally when data collection is not starting its waiting for SOMETHING to happen before it can start, I've had a lot of troubleshooting when making GC methods in galaxie because of this.

Simple, but make sure detector is in remote mode, detector is on and lit, umm stabilization time in method (2 spots) is accounted for, injection parts all work and moving, oven up to temperature. Other than that I'm not sure.

Good luck! Tell us if you figure it out!
Oh, hit ctrl+alt+del when its not working and look for anything starting with ACQ
Thank you for your prompt reply.

I will try and I will inform you.

Best regards

Hi,
we are having exactly the same problem! Did you manage to solve or understand the source of your problems?
Thanks for any feedback you can provide...

Good morning to everybody,

I have tried everything I could without any positive result, including the suggestion from the forum members.
I also asked for help to a Varian Service gay (not in my country), who let me understood that the problem might be in the communication between the Galaxie software and Windows. He suggested that restore of PC system at any date before, when machine worked correctly, might be attempted. In my case I had my PC formated so the restore of PC system was not an option. Anyway you can try it. I hope it works!.
If you find a solution please let me know.

One point I could think of is the language version of your Windows.

I've found at several occasions that all non-English Windows versions (especially those with bidi [that's bi-directional entering of text for e.g. Arabic scripture] enabled) tend to behave weird with crapware resp. software like Varian data systems.

Maybe you could try to set up another computer with an English Windows XP and check if the issues persist.

Generally speaking, this reassures my experience that vendor data systems like ChemStation or Galaxy are unstable junk written by some wannabe programmers who have absolutely no clue about stable, correct and fault-tolerant programming. But this has a long tradition: When I disassembled the firmware of the Hitachi U-3200, I saw hell too. Sorry for the rant, but it's a riddle to me how those things pass QA.
I'm suffering the same "waiting for injection" issue with my prostar 410 Autosampler. The system was working fine; I feel I have tried everything I can; including the suggestion from the forum members and a system restore but no luck...any other suggestions?

Thanks

Jeff
Hello

If you work with an autosampler (410), please make sure that in the pump section of the method, the start mode is "imedeately when ready"
If you work with a manual injection valve (rheodyne), use "Inject trigger on Pump A"

Sometimes galaxie is corrupting the method file, sometimes it can be helpful to create a complete new method.

If Data aquisition is not starting, it can be, that the detector is in the monitor state. That means before starting data aqq., the detector is checking the noise ( you can adjust this in the detector section of the method)
If noise is OK , data aqq will start, if not, the detector will wait a little time and start montoring aggain...
If you have for example a worn out lamp or a bad calibrated detector, the monitoring can become an endless loop.

I am also having this issue. We are using Galaxie 1.8 with two Prostar 210 pumps, a 335 DAD and a Rheodyne 9725i detector. I believe I have everything set up correctly. The rheodyne valve has a cable that goes in to the back of Pump A and is screwed in to the injector/ground ports.

I have the instrument configured with the generic "manual injector" driver and it is set to wait for external signal to begin data acquisition. I see no options that say "Inject trigger on Pump A". In the pump section of the method editor, the injection option is greyed out and disabled. When I start a run and then trigger the injection with the valve, nothing happens and it just sits on "Waiting for Injection". Anyone have any ideas?
Hello

If you use a manual injector driver, it should be configured to" External, start is by another device"

Please check in your administration, if the detector channels(green) are corresponding to jour injector

You can also check your method, if the detector channel is activated, there is a checkbox for each channel in the left upper region of the screen.

If you are using more than one manual injector valves, please switch the unused one to load position.

best regards
Chris
