Hello everyone,

I work in a university research lab and I am new to Waters Empower. In addition there is nobody around that I can conveniently ask for help. So forgive me for this naive question

Currently I log on to the system as "analyst", and I can make new methods, edit existing methods, but cannot manage existing methods, i.e., delete methods that are no longer in use or change the name of existing methods to something more easily understandable. I know I won't be granted "admin" right in Empower, but is there a one-level-up user type in Empower that will allow me full control within my own project tree?

Also I encountered a problem with one of the processing methods: After a computer crash every time I open "review data" I get this error message that says something like "the current method is opened read-only, because *I* am editing it, bla bla bla"---I am not! I tried logging out/in or rebooting but nothing worked---the system just remembered what I did back when the system crashed and won't let me go... Is there anything I can do to unlock myself?

We are set up as a client of an enterprise Empower network, and I connect to a central server via VPN. I don't know how much more complicated this would have made.
Hi,

your system admin can alter the analyst user type to allow deleting for example.
Or he can create a new custom made user type specially for you.

The method lock can be unlocked in the method properties (browse project, right click on your method, properties, unlock) if you have the right privileges.

Great! Thank you Ace.
