Hello all,
Unfortunately, we have had a number of bottles of BHT stablilized ethyl ether test positive for peroxides. 3 bottles around 2ppm, one above 25ppm. We are using this for EPA 8151 herbicides, which uses ether to extract the herbs from water. The method states the ether should be tested, but not what level to be concerned about. I am thinking this small a level is not a problem, but we do concentrate the extract.

Does anyone have experience with this? I have been at this 15 years and this is the first time I've seen peroxide. I read one article [http://www-ehs.ucsd.edu/lab/pdf/kelly_peroxides.pdf] that suggested 100ppm would be a reasonable limit.

Thanks, TW
