RT adjusting

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

I have some results of GC chromatograms, after I identified I found Retentian Time of a certain component was differrent between each chromatogram. Any method to adjust RT for getting same RT for a component between each chromatogram? Is it possible?

Best Regards,
Fitri
The first question is, how do you know that it is the same component if the retention time has changed ?

How much has the retention changed, and what is the retention time ?

Do you want to get repeatable retentions form the analysis, or do you want to move the peaks on a chromatogram that you already have ?

Much depends upon the variables of the sample content. Did you inject the same sample and get different RT for the peak of interest?

If you did then something changed. No one wants to accept this simple fact they often would prefer to believe in magic.

The problem then lies in determining what changed and why. Fix this and you will have very consistent RT for the peak of interest.

best wishes,

Rod
