Are manual injection syringes type brand specific?

Am almost ready to get our HPLC up and running. We have several autosamplers but want to start simple with manual injections but we have no syringes. Before purchasing some just wanted to clarify if the injection ports and syringes are brand specific (ie only syringes designed for Waters will work on Waters) or are all HPLC syringes the same and can be used on any setup?
Thanks

You need the blunt tip. It's gauge 22 for size.

I think , syringes used for Waters U6K injectors are different than Rheodyne injectors.
All HPLC syringes must have blunt end , but gauges and lenghts may be different so syringes for Rheodyne injectors may not be suitable for Waters injectors.

Yes, the needle size must match up with the type of manual injection valve on that HPLC.

Thanks for the info. Have obtained a list of Hamilton syringes that are compatible with the U6K but not many are available on the cheap (second hand). Do you now of any other brands besides Hamilton that could fit the U6K? I am not that familiar with which companies manufacture chromatography syringes.
Much thanks

Given the fragility of microliter-scale syringes, I would be very surprised to find *anything* second-hand. If students will be (ab)using them, syringes may get to be a considerable recurring expense.
Tjat siad, if you will be setting up for "filled loop" injection, then the accuracy of the syringe is irrelevant, and all you need is a luer-fiting syringe of the correct gauge with a blunt (flat) tip. AFAIK, the U6K takes a 25s gauge needle. In a pinch, I suppose you could just get 25 gauge disposable needles and grind the tips flat yourself.

how would you measure the gauge in that small size? I was always wondering if there is a similar solution for normal rheodyne injectors.

Hamilton and SGE are the major players and are stocked by most LC/GC consumable suppliers.

You can also buy separately the needles form Hamilton website, and fit them on your pre-owned syringes. They now have a nice graphical selector that allows you to choose your own diameter, tip style, connection to body, etc...
