We will get a new GC-MS and LC-MS, which is the best choice of equipment for conducting environmental analysis:

GC-MS (Clarus SQ8T - Perkin Elmer or 5975C - Agilent)

LC-MS (FX-10 with AxION2 TOF MS - Perkin Elmer 6430 or TQ - Agilent)

I have always ran Agilent GCMS systems so I am biased to those but will say they do work well for environmental. We do both Volatiles purge and trap and SemiVolatiles analysis on them.

Not sure if you can still get the MSChemstation software or if they make you use the new Mass Hunter software. From what I have heard it is best to get the MSChemstation if you can. That is what I have been using for nearly 20 years now. It even has a setting for Environmental so that you get the proper tune evaluation macros to make checking that daily very easy.

Agilent is the best choice...it's a reference in GC/MS
Fiability, sensitivity, reproductibility, robustness and a good support service
We have 8 GC/MSD and we have no problem!

For LC/MS......i prefer Agilent too...Perkin-Elmer are excellent in ICP-MS but in LC and GC..?????

I say Agilent, though ditch the Pfieffer foreline pumps they come with. They are trash. I use an Edwards E2M1.5 on my 5975 and it is much more reliable. Otherwise the Agilent is a great instrument.

Effectively, the pfeiffer pump is not good and very noisy
I have change all my mechanical pump ( 4 edwards 1.5 and 4 pfeiffer duo 2.5 for 8 Agilent DS102)
My vacuum is very better, less noisy too
