Hello Fellow members of this forum,

I was wondering if anyone could find time to answer my question.

I need to present my fatty acid data in mole% but I do not know how to change the peak area into mole%.
Following is the link for data I have ( I did not know how to attach it therefore I uploaded it)

Can any kind soul find time to let me know?

Thanks a bunch :)

Your chromatogram is not one which is cleanly showing only FAME peaks. I suspect you have decomposition of unsaturated FAME as well as other possibilities, under and bordering the FAME peaks. There may also be hydroxy FAME peaks.

FAMEs have a fairly consistent weight response on a FID. 1mg/mL solution of each FAME would give peak areas that are FAIRLY consistent in area. Of course, equal weights do NOT imply equal moles.

Without a standard chromatogram of known concentrations to refer to, I do not know how you can accurately determine mole %, that is assuming you are eluting and are separating all the FAMEs present in your sample.

best wishes,

Rod
