What should Chemist with 1 year of using GC experience know

im wondering that what chemist with 1 year experience of using GC and LC should know about these two instruments?

This would entirely depend on job responsibilities.
Assuming the chemist was to load samples onto the instruments, have the instrument ready to run, start runs and review data - the chemist should be familiar with daily and weekly maintanance, basic operation, integration of peaks, and recognition that there is a problem when a problem occurs. If the senior person in the lab reserves some of these tasks for him/hers self - the chemist would know less. In other situations, the chemist would be able to troublshoot the instrument and method issues and adjust conditions for injection, separation, and detection.
