Help with antibiotics extraction

Hi, first of all, this is a great forum.

Mi problem is this:

I have to determine the presence/absence of four antibiotics from a fish sludge matrix, and I wonder if anyone knows a way to extract them from the sludge (if easy would be great).

The AB are: amoxicillin, flumequine, florfenicol an oxytetracycline.

I'm by no means an expert in HPLC, so any help is welcomed.

Those are all extractable with acetonitrile. There are published multi-class methods out there that include all of those compounds and many more. It does help if you have a LC-MS/MS to do the analysis, though.

What is fish sludge?

Thanks!

I don't know the exact word, but it's mostly the feces and food at the bottom of a fish cage farm

I think I called it sediment. If you can find it, check out J AOAC Int. 85(2) 341-348 (2002). That will give you an LC-UV method for OTC in this matrix. If you can't find it, I will need an email address to send it to you.
