Does anyone knows of a HPLC method for the determination of Sennosides A & B?
I¨ve been using the BP colorimetric method.

Thanks to all.

Dear Fernando,

you may have a look at the following publication, which still can serve as a basis for further analytical development (although it is ten years old):

Kabelitz; Reif. Deutsche Apotheker Zeitung 134 No. 51/52, pp. 5080 (1994)

Best regards

Hi Fernando

Try the following article: Validated HPLC method for the determination of sennosides A and B in senna tablets.
Shao-Wen Sun, Hsiu-Ting Su, Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis 29 (2002) pg 881 - 894.

I hope this helps
Cheers
Mike

Hi Fernando

We had success with the method for tablet formulations but the method was not suitable for our liquid formulations.

Good luck with your development.

Hi Fernando,

we used a slightly adjusted method for a herbal tea preparation with Senna leves and fruits as API. We had to adjust because the original method had its focus on selectivity in order to identify nearly all sennosides present in Folia Sennae. So we shortened the method for the assay, but it worked fine concerning the basic method parameters.

Good luck...
