I'm wondering if maybe hexane doesn't work as a solvent for the MS?

The analyte is chloromethyl furfural, ethyl furoate ester, and some other unknown compounds. We had initially decided to use hexane as a "weak" solvent, as our analytes are more on the polar side. Do you have any suggestions for a good nonpolar solvent for electrospray? It's not a particularly good choice for electrospray, but what's the sample/analyte?
Here's a useful link on hexane in electrospray: http://web.uvic.ca/~mcindoe/42.pdf
