Good morning everybody,

I am new to Ezchrom so this may be a stupid question:

When writing my method and sequence I click on Enable data export . So I thought the system would store the files in the directory I defined.... But actually it did not store anything except of the sequence summary report which I requested in the sequence table....

Any idea what I am doing wrong? I really need to get this data to Excel...

Thx a lot
With EZChrom, there are no stupid questions...

The place to specify the directory location for your data files to be stored is SEQUENCE, PROPERTIES, OPTIONS, FILE PATHS, DATA. Enable Data Export just sends the specified info you selected, not the actual files.

The EZChrom default file naming is by time and date. To make datafiles easier to work with, may I suggest that the last thing you do in the sequence table is name the first line in FILENAME as <##> - <ID>, then fill down. This will name the file as 01-"Sample ID"-Rep1 (if more than 1 injection), etc. in the order they were acquired. Be aware that the filenames do not update if you change something in the sequence table (ex, add another sample, edit the sample ID).

Hope I understood your problem correctly...
Kathy
Hi KAthy,
thank's for your reply.

Unfortunatelly that is not the solution to my problem.... I don't want to have .dat files. What I need is some file format that I could open with Excel... The way you described leads to dat files (at least it does on my PC)...

Adebar, in the Advanced section of the method you are able to select which information to export and to where. That is flexible and you can select the information you like.
May I also suggest to check whether you can do your calculations in Advanced Report of EZChrom?

Hello,
in my case I'm using an old version of 32 Karat 3.0 (Ezchrom) it is not possible to export data. If I select data export (ascii), save my method and analyse it there is just a beep of my computer. No txt file is exported.
Does anyone have experience with this software?

Regards
Hm, so you are using the old 32Carat software. Under the advanced section you can specify your export, i trust you have done that. Now I do not personally know the old version and their possibilities, but can you create a netCDF file (provided you want to export the chromatogram).

Hi there,

I'm sorry but I am very much a rookie at EZchrom Elite. I don't want to do anything fancy--just take the .dat file and be able to see the time vs signal (e.g. UV detector) in Excel (so I can do curve fitting, etc.). Do I need to save it as a different file format somehow? I'm confused because when you go to the method editor and see the "data export" options, its for data formats other than .dat after the fact.

Thanks!
Sarah
Our UniChrom is able to read EzChrom files (aka Class-VP aka 32-Karat) and export data for free in TXT and AIA
Formats supported

All,

under the Advanced Section in the method you can select Export. If you select to export the chromatogram as AIA or netCDF format you will get an export of the raw data, allowing you to read that using Excel.
the .dat file is always there as it is the native EZChrom format.

I have a problem which I don't understand. I have export enabled, selected the data for export, specified a data path for the file and it worked, the data file is in the specified location.
Then I specify another path (which exists) and nothing happens, no file! When I change back to the previous data location it still does not work. It’s driving me nuts  .

What is going wrong, or just another bug in EXChrom 3.1.7?
Silly question, but did you do a reprocess after changing the path? Because export will only happen after a reprocess.
There is no bug as it worked the first instance.
Did you remove the previous exported data files or were these still present?
