We just recently had our 5890 repaired and placed back in service. We will be using it mainly for alcohols and glycols. What is the best column to use for this application?

624 or 1301 phase, or sometimes a Wax.

If injecting water directly, wax type columns are the only way to go due to polarity.

This.

If injecting a water solution, keep the injection volume 0.5 ul or less.

Yup. Gotta go with wax. Here's one: Restek Stabilwax Cat#10655. I use it for glycols with a drilled uniliner. Works great.
