Hi all,

We are expanding our GMP protein analysis lab on a limited budget; and I really need your recommendations!

We have small (minute) quantities of proteins, which need to be tagged, derivatized, digested, etc. Normally a concentration or solvent removal step is needed. Solvents may contain acids such as HCl (or TFA) and organics like acetonitrile or acetone.

So we were planning to get a vacuum centrifugal evaporator. Which brand did you have good/ bad experiences with? Apart from Savant and Eyela, there are some Korean and Chinese brands out there, can they do the job?

Merry Xmas!
We have Concentrator plus from Eppendorf; no bad experience so far.
Thanks for your recommendation. Is it compatible with common solvents and acids used in proteomics? To protect the pump, do you have a cold trap (or chemical trap); and any corrosion on the inside?
In my laboratory, we have a vaccum concentrator branded as Labconco CentriVap concentrator.
It has rotary centrifugation that can provide centrifugal force to low-weight compound and this can prevent them from losing during drying. And it is temperature controlled up to 100C.
Besides, it is connected to cold trap.

Bad things on this concentrator is that the concentrator lid is not allowed to open after we apply 100C and it require cooling to about 70C to open the lid.
