Agilent has stated they can't (or won't) sell me a copy of Chemstation G1701BA. We're trying to get a 5890/5972 gc/ms connected to a Win XP system, and I already have a 82350B pci gpib card, just need Chemstation G1701BA.

I even found my company's license stickers for it, just not the disks.

Does anyone know a vendor that could sell Chemstation G1701BA? Or- have any suggestions on getting that system to talk to more modern versions of Chemstation?

Thanks
You have the hardware and the license numbers, so you are a legitimate owner of the software as I understand it. You are just asking for "replacement media", someone should be able to make and supply a copy of G1701BA.

We used G1701AA with our 5972 MSD, but our computer was running Windows 95. If you cannot get G1701BA and would like to try G1701AA, you'll need to provide your E-mail address (such as abc -at- xyz dot com) and I can E-mail you to get your address and could likely mail a copy of the disc. Whether this would work win Windows XP and the 82350 board: I have absolutely no idea.

Remember, Agilent's compatability chart only shows what they have checked out and confirmed to work.
G1701AA won't work with XP, but since you have the license, if I can find my G1701BA discs, they're yours. I may not find them so hopefully someone else has them. You could place a free wanted ad on LabX...I've had good luck with that. Good luck.
Thanks everyone for offering to send us out a copy. I took Consumer Products Guy's advice and was able to get Agilent to snail mail one out. Even better, a support tech at agilent we'd worked with previously sent me a link to an ISO.

I use G1701BA to run my 5890-FID. I don't have the cd anymore either. I didn't know it could run on XP. I thought It needed Windows NT. BTW could you email me the link please. Some day I will need to get another computer for it other than the pentium II with 64mb of RAM. My email is sschoe2@yahoo.com.
Can you provide any information on how you got G1701BA to work under Windows XP?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Keith
From what I've read in the older posts it will either work or it won't. I seems to almost never work with XP SP3. It looks like SP2 or even 1 is your best bet.
FYI...
Actually any software is owned by the manufacturer and it's sold as a license to the buyer....when you buy used equipment you are NOT entitled to the software as it wasn't licensed to the new owner.
I have seen many posts in this forum that Waters right away states that software is copyrighted, and a new package should be bought.
I bet it's the same with Agilent or any vendor..
Software copyrights are very finicky...but swapping software isn't ethical unless you were the original buyer of the equipment.
My 2 Cents worth...
G1701BA will not acquire under XP unless you co-install it with 1701AA. It is very tricky. Much better to run it under Win2000.

You can use either AA or BA data reduction all day long under XP.
