Hi everyone

What conditions (Ion trap temperature and column phase (DB-5 or ...)) should be set for sensitivity check of an ion trap GC-MS with OFN (Octafluoro naphthalene) reported in instrument manuals? and what is difference between S/N and RMS S/N for comparison of sensitivity results?

Should I Tune after changing the ion trap temperature?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yousef.

Completely depends on the instrument type and manufacturer.

As for S/N calculations, generally the options are Peak to Peak (PP) or Root Mean Square (RMS).

RMS is usually favoured as it gives higher values!
