we obtained one HP CGD 1800, information about this device not too much, so could you please share some information:

1. AFAIK, core hardware of GCD and connection hp5890+MSD5971 quite similar. Is it right?

2. AFAIK, these devices works with different software but why if their hardware similar?

3. AFAIK, GCD software enought rare and old, but can I use regular G1701 Chemstation to control MS detector (separately) of GCD?

2. What is difference between GCD 1800A and 1800C?

thanks a lot!

These GCD units were not that popular, did not sell well. some is quite similar to MSD of the era. These units are many years out of support.

Who is this AFAIK you pose your questions to? Is he someone in your country?
AFAIK - As Far As I Know :)
Hi

The Gcd is basically a 5890 and 5971.
The software is a 'simplified' version of the msd chemstation.
The latest software that is compatable is G1701BA.
The G1800A was pre year 2000 and had a smartcard 1 board in so is not compatable with the G1701BA unless you can find a smartcard 2 board to install. The G1800C was post year 2000 and is compatable with G1701BA as it has a smartcard 2 board

Overall as consumer products guy stated it was not very successful, but there are a few kicking about.
Hope this helps
thanks! it's almost fully clear situation...

Can G1701 may control whole C1800 or only MSD and chromatograph still works with own Chemstation version? If it's true how work with two applications simultaneously?

how about smart card II+ ? Accordingly to Agilent Compatibility Matrix this card works fine with G1701CA and, even, G1701DA, but question is whether it may be successful connected to G1800 (H5971)? or G1701BA enought good for own goals..?

with best regards,
-vadym
Hi

The G1701BA will run the whole G1800C. Basically when you msconfig setup it asks which instrument you got. After telling it you have a GCD the chemstation macros loaded are for the GCD with the horrible front ( TOP ) screen.

The problem with the newer chemstation versions is they do not have the option in the msconfig setup to add a GCD. I have tried setting up for a 5972 or 3 but you get a mainboard mismatch. I am sure there is a way around this as several companies in the US offer patches.

Be aware although G1701Ba mainly works on Win XP pro you will have problems with the Data Analysis section, again there are US companies who offer patches.

Hope this helps
Do somebode know how in GCD (G1800) measures vacuum if nornally ion gauge tube is absent behind front panel as in hp5971/72?
