Hello,

I am using Chemstation with an HPLC RI and when I create a sequence, I would like to know what is the time of the entire sequence without doing an addition of all the methods? Any tip?

Thanks
Dear trugne,

Check your logs.

Sincerely,
Keith

The question clearly stated was how to anticipate total run time of the sequence before starting it.
I'm not sure how to add up the total length in advance in Chemstation, but if you do this a lot, you could set up an Excel spreadsheet to fill in as the sequence, and calculate the total run-time there, providing Excel with a translation table of method-names to run-times. Keep your blank Excel file as an .xls or .xlsx. When you fill it in, note the total run-time, and save it as a .csv. Then you can use Chemstation's "sequence - import sequence template" menu item to read the csv and create your sequence automatically.

You could also calculate solvent requirements this way.

Remember that the total run-time (N samples * x min) isn't the same as the time-needed to complete the sequence, as the runs don't include time taken to make the injection. Particularly if you are using vial-washes (as you almost certainly will be) let alone any "complicated" extras with the autosampler (an inject program) this time can get quite significant. Again, you could estimate it yourself and incorporate it into an Excel calculation.

As far is i know Chemstation does NOT calculate total runtime of a sequence the way for ex. Empower does (i presume you were refering to this).
If i am wrong, and you find out a way, please share(would be interesting to know).
