The 1100 communicates to the computer via LAN. The HP 35900E box we have is GPIB. So, first question, does the GPIB on the 35900E need to be connected to the computer, or can it connect to one of the 1100 modules? If so, which one? There is an autosampler, quaternary pump, column oven & diode array detector in the current 1100 setup. Currently, the DAD connects to the computer with the LAN via the JetDirect card. I've read conflicting statements - can I get around having to buy a GPIB card for the computer by removing the JetDirect card from the DAD and installing it into the quaternary pump? I haven't tried this yet. I have tried connecting the 35900E via GPIB to both the pump and autosampler so far, to no avail. After configuring the 35900E module in the configuration editor, I receive the following error message when initially connecting to Chemstation: SICL32.dll was not found. Subsequently, the software tells me that it doesn't "see" the 35900E box.
Thanks for any advice on whether I need to purchase a GPIB card for the computer, or if I can somehow connect the 35900E to my LAN based 1100 system.
Regarding my Alltech 500 ELSD setup, I am also wondering where the remote start cable from the 35900E box should connect on my 1100? Guessing either the pump or autosampler would work? Finally, in connecting my signal cable from the ELSD to my 35900E box, does anyone have any suggestions? I have one end of the cable connected to input A on the 35900E, but wasn't sure exactly where the two wires need to feed into the back of the ELSD.
Thanks for any suggestions! I'll be glad when this setup is finished so I can finally start generating some data.
