Does anyone used Corona CAD for Waters HPLC system?

Hello,

My name is Helen. I am thinking of buying a Corona Charged Aerosol Detector (Corona CAD) for our Waters HPLC system. Is there anyone used this type of detector for Waters' HPLC system before? Thanks.

Best regards.

Helen
Helen,

I actively use a CAD (Corona Ultra) as an optional add on detector with my Agilent HPLC system. I attach this detector in-line following my UV detector to monitor excipients (many publications using ELSD and CAD available detailing these applications) on a second channel to our data system and collect UV concurrently. A couple cautions:
1. There is an inline filter leading to the CAD inlet that needs regular checking and replacing when pressure starts to exceed limits allowed by your UV flowcell. Check pressure on your system without column or CAD attached using your routine eluent, then attach the CAD and check pressure. Good to do routine checks of this.
2. Disconnect the CAD after routine use and thorough waqshing with clean wash solvents used to store your HPLC (50:50 MeOH/water), then make sure to vent properly to help dry the CAD before shutdown.

We have been using or CAD reliable for over 2 years and just done the vendor annual cleaning PM. All is well.

cheers.
