Empower 2 - reporting % amounts

Hi

Im fairly new to empower, and my knowledge of it is fairly limited so I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem im having.

Im trying to get my report method to report %w/w of my samples based on external standards (there are 8). Ive imputed std weights, sample weights, dilution factors, purity etc. but I can see from the chromatogram and response values that the numbers being reported are incorrect (often 0.001% when they should be ~90%). I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what calculation empower performs when reporting "%amount" so I can try and see where im going wrong. Ive heard mention of a "Cconst1" value - does this factor in?

Cheers

George

I'm not sure about %amount. Do you mean the Amount field in the Peaks tab of the Review Main Window?

If entering your standard information as Amounts, Empower determines the x-values associated with each response value (y-value) by first multiplying the entered amount by the sample weight and the dividing by the dilution.

For the samples, the calculated amount is each x-value determined from the calibration curve for each associated response value multiplied by the dilution and then divided by the sample weight.

I hope that helps.

You can find addition information in the Empower Software Data Aquisition and Processing Theory Guide (a Waters document). You should be able to find it on their website.

Your %amount could be a custom field developed for your workplace. If you could post the custom field formula I could provide additional information.

Good luck!
