hello every body,
I am doing a reaserch on MTBE % in gasoline am analzing the MTBE with gas chromatography according to test method ASTM 4815 but the problem that I suspect the result so is there any other method to determine MTBE in gasoline rather than chromatography.
thanx
I can't think of any that would have any accuracy. Spectroscopy isn't quanitative when there can be other components absorbing at the same wavelength.

Why do you think your analysis using D4815 is wrong? Are you sure you are using the correct adjustments of the method to get the correct answer?

You can use other methods of GC other than the oxygenates test of D4815 (which has to be executed correctly to get the correct measurement).

For MtBE alone, a simple backflush to vent would work.

Good luck,

Rod
thanx Rod, the problem was that i hadn't had the CRMs now I have them the is no mor suspcet about the result
