Can anyone help me, please?
I have got an HPLC Varian PRO STAR 320 supported by a Galaxie Software.
Today I couldn't analyze any sample, because when I press the start button from the software, the system stay in the "before run" way, after the injection. The run does not start. The time does not start.
I had no error from the software. Lamp is ok, flux and pressure are ok.
What should I do???
Please can anyone help me?
Thanks

I have seen this type of issue with three specific things that come to mind:
- The lamp is not on (you said you verified this)
- The autosampler is not in serial mode
- The vial to be injected is a missing vial.

Galaxie will not show an error and just sit idle in those cases (it might error on the autosampler in serial mode one, I haven't seen it in a long time).

Thanks paulw for your suggestions.
Yesterday in a firt istance the system showed me the Error: Detector Fatal Error.
Today it was not showed again. The vial is in its correct place and the autosampler is in serial mode.
The battery of the lamp was changed about 6-8 months ago...I tried to use separately the D2 and the Vis Lamp but nothing changed. I cannot start the run.
Can anyone suggest me what to do?

reset computer to instrument connection:
CTRL+ALT+DEL, sort and Close everything starting with Acq

Reopen empower, turn on lamp.

The other thing is equilibration time, there are 2 spots in Galaxie where it is set, I forget where.
Also check that the correct instrument parts are used in the method (checked on)

The "Detector Fatal Error" sounds as if either the lamp did not strike, or that it could not stabilize the signal. You can try and purge and fill the flow cell with a mixture of 30-50% ACN and water then recalibrate the lamp. The lamps for the prostar systems have very short lifespans in my experience and it may just be time for a new lamp.

paulw the mixture for the lamp calibration should be 50:50 ACn/water, did you mean this?

50/50 works, as long as you have nice clean water. I can't remember what the Varian manuals specifically state, but I know we used a 50/50 in the past.
