If you want to connect the end of one column to the beginnning of the other, without adding any gas at the connection or diverting any of the carrier gas or sample to a different flow path, then a Deans switch is not what you need. You can use either a press-tight type of connector, or a metal capillary connector.

Of course, you can attach the two columns into a single train with the Deans switch with the accompanying dead volume. It would be a very expensive connector though. But I guess it beats spending money if you already have one.
