hi and thanks for your forum!
I want to solubilize sevoflurane(anesthésic gaz) witch is very lipophilic and i don't want to use carbon disulfite because it's very very toxic!!
Is there any solvent I can use which don't make any signal in my FID and witch wil not kill me after two week of handling?

Why do you want to solubilize it?
We used to work with gas (Vinyl Chloride,Pentafluoroiodide,Xenon in Blood ...) without solubilization.
With headspace, gastight syringe and tedlarbag your could work directly with gas...depending on your apllication.

Moreover CS2 will not kill you in two weeks if you use routine safety procedure or appropriate safety procedure(fumed hood,gloves,glasses etc...)

There are many other dangerous solvents you use every day like Methanol

I want to solubilize it to make standard to quantify the anesthesic gaz in the plasma
i must have a diluted solution of my liquid gaz to put the right quantity in my plasma matrice. But in water i can't be sure of the quantity i have in my working solutions.
And what about using undecane or decane solvent?(i heat at 75°c in my headspace witch is under the boiling température of these solvents)

We do that with plasma too!

You could directly spiked your plasma samples with a known volume of gas,using standard additions
for example :
0.1g or 100uL plasma +0 uL gas
0.1g or 100uL plasma+25ul gas
0.1g or 100uL plasma+50ul gas
0.1g or 100uL plasma+100ul gas

You could make dilution of your standard in HS vial too,to obtain a desired stock solution.

You should know the volume of your HS vial,the molecular weight of your standard,temp and pressure...

Concerning decane or undecan you will see a peak,since they are in excess in your HS vial .

Why do you want to find a solvent,you don't see with FID?
In HS we used DMF,DMSO,DMAC ...we see it,with a good separation,it's not a problem.

en fait les taux sont tellement faible dans le plasma que il n'existe pas de pipettes capable de pipetter de si faibles quantité de sevoflurane pour mettre dans les points étalons. C'est pourquoi je dois faire des solution mères que je rajoute à du plasma
les solution mère aqueuses sont peu reproductibles de part la très faible solubilité de sevoflurane dans l'eau et donc dans le plasma.
c pourquoi je voudrai avoir des solution de sevoflurane relativement concentré pour d'une part limiter la quantité de solution étalon ajoutée à la matrice et d'autre part pouvoir monter plus haut en concentration. en d'autre thermes avoir une gamme plus large.
pour le solvant je voudrais un solvant qui ne fait pas de signal pour deux raisons:
-le pic généré est énorme et écrase tout le chromatogramme
-la quantité vaporisée pourrai faire augmenter la pression dans l'espace de tête et diminer la vaporisation des autres produits dosés(etalon interne et métabolite)

Ce n'est pas parce que tu ne vois pas le solvant qu'il n'as pas d'effet sur l'espace de tete,prends l'exemple de l'eau!!!!!!!!!!!
