Are Waters SAT/IN converters useable with ...others HPLC software programs?
Does anybody knows how to connect them with others workstations? Which ones.
Hi,

As far as i,m aware they aren,t compatible with anything other than Waters equipment.
Thanks for your quick reply.

Anyway to get a PC card and software at discount price?
When using a Waters satin box, you will need to know if it is a serial or Ethernet satin. Ethernet satin is usually an eSatin. You will need the driver for the satin box.
If you have Empower then by all means get it but note that the satin box is now obsolete, replaced with the eSatin.

Hello,

I am not sure what kind of SAT/IN we've got from this lab.
It's got some kind of ethernet RJ45 (ethernet but slightly different) plug on the back on which we connect an adaptor cable with 4 others RJ45 plug for the instruments and at the other end, it's a serial plug to be connected to a PC card or a serial port on a computer. I am not sure?
Hi,

It sounds like a standard Satin box, you'll need a Bus lace card which is Waters. Without this the Satin won't work. Plus you'll need Empower. so really unless you have Empower software, Buslace card. Don't go for the Waters Satin box.

Hello again,

Thanks very much for your answers.

In fact I work for a university in France and some equipment were donated to us cos by a pharmaceuticals company. I am looking to put them back together.

They are TSP Pump, autosampler and UV detector. I am looking for a data acquisition workstation software that would be free of licence (I have NO BUDGET, universities here are poorly funded) that would alow me to collect and process data. I dont need to pilot the equipment.

I have been looking through the net for information, but it seems that every time programs are protected with a dongle key and you need a converter.

Would you know by any chance a way to make this work at no cost?

Many thanks
Hi,

With the Waters equipment, you'll need the drivers for the Satin, Buslace card for the satin to interface with the Software and you'll need Empower or Millenium. After that I can't be of any further help.

I don't know of any free CDS system to use for collecting Chromatograms.

All the best and hope you get what you need.

Hi,

I had to connect the SAT/IN to the Bus Lac/e and have some more details if you need them.
