hi
I we have been repeatedly getting the following error in Aquity UPLC : Pump A: pump homing error” …may I know the reason for this error ? and how does one go about rectifying it ?
Thanks a lot

Could you please specify when do you get this error?
Seems like there is some pressure build up when it's not expected.
Did you try to shutdown and restart everything?

we generally get this error when we start-up the system.
yup tried..shutdown and restart everything, but the problem persists. the system was working fine at the time of last run.
what does Homing error actually means??

On a Alliance, Homing error means that the pump can't reach the desired positions.
eg on startup the pump plunger tries to go to his "home" position eg fully extended or retracted, but if for some reason this doesn't succeed, you get a Homing error.
Did you try to loosen all the tubings going onto the pump A and restart?
If it's solved, you can then try to rule out where the problem persists?
Or perhaps a broken plunger?

You could disconnect all the tubing from the pumphead in question. Sounds like the Torpedo is faulty. You could also check the electrical connections to the torpedo.
Maybe need a replacement torpedo...

Hi,
Bull76 is probably right. We also had twice a homig error and nothing worked any more until the technician changed the torpedo. This was the reason why we signed a maintenance contract for the pump afterwards...(Torpedo is expensive)

Is it a binary or Quaternary pump you have? You could switch over the electrical and encoder cables to see which torpedo is causing the issue. Or see which torpedo is at fault.
Some troubleshooting is required but if you get an FSE in he/She should be able to identify which torpedo or the fault for you. It is a costly part unless you have a service contract.
