Presnisolone. Presnisolone Base. Acetate... Sooo many!

Hi Guys,

This is a question i'm asking on someones behalf and i can't answer it for them so i'm looking for help here.

Prednisolone. Pred Base. Pred Acetate. I obviously know how they are different. Salt forms etc, but what's going on for Prednisolone ot live on it's own without a salt form? Does it not have to be a salt form. I.e. can it excist simply as prednisolone or does it HAVE to be Prednisolone base/acetate....What determines the resting state. Salts simply used to increase/ aid solubility??


Just some general info i think im chasing. Sorry for having such a confusing Q.

Prednisolone acetate is an ester not a salt. This affects the body's use of the prednisolone. And, for that, goodgle the specific drug forms and include metabolism or bioavailability in the search. There is a lot of stuff to sift through on the question of differences.
