agilent 5973 msd source temperature fluctuations

Temperature of MSD source not stable. Set to 250, temperature begins to climb, gets to approximately 200 then begins to jump erratically up to 511. Never goes above 511. Can anyone help.

Did this start happening suddenly or did you have the source out for maintenance? If it just started happening, it probably is a bad sensor. If you had the source out, check the connections and if they're OK the sensor could be bad.
