Agilent 1260 with Chromeleon 7.1 - shuting down problems

Hi everyone, I'm new hear, so sorry if I'm asking for something what has been already asked.

I am an Agilent 1260 with DAD detector user. Recently, I am using Chromeleon 7.1 to control this HPLC system.

And here comes my question: Is there any way to stop the flow, and most important- turn off the lamp in the detector after analysis?

The flow can be stoped by creating appropriate instrumental method-I know it. But how to turn off the lamp?

Smart standby and smart shutdown doesn’t work with Agilent 1260. Or maybe it works, but I don't know how enable it. Anyone know?

In ePanel in the "Advanced" I set the "Shutdown", but HPLC is switched off after EVERY injection in the sequence. Chromatograms look very bad
Does anyone know how to shut down this HPLC just after the last injection?

I will be grateful for your help.

Have you tried to add another line (in fact command) to this program file ?

(something like UV_Lamp =Off - choose apropriate command from menu)

I found 3 interesting commands in "Script Editor" :

LCSystem.DAD_Signal_A.AcqOff
LCSystem.DAD.TurnOff
LCSystem.TurnOff

Unfortunately, none of them was helpful. HPLC system stayed "Idle" after analysis and lamp was on.
I have not found the command UV_Lamp = Off
Do you have any other ideas?

This is the command for Dionex PDA-100 DAD quoted only as an example.
Look for sth dealing with "lamp" and "off".
I did. Unfortunately, there was nothing similar to "UV_Lamp = Off". Nothing connected with "lamp" and "off"

I checked many commands in script editor.

In EZChrome the only way to turn off the lamp is putting appropriate (shutdown) type of run in sequence. Chromeleon has it's own sequence editor. There is no way to put "shutdown" command in Chromeleon sequence.

I sent a query to the Dionex helpdesk . Will see what they answer. I will let you know.
Probably patch time...
Thanks,

...
And there is no need for such command in sequence.

I always add last sample in the sequence, run with special, short program with following commands:
- switch off pump motor
- switch off lamp
- switch off column compartment temperature stabilisation
In fact it is blank sample (no injection according to Chromeleon convention) added only to execute those 3 commands.
Ok, I understand that these things work with Dionex HPLC. But with Agilent 1260 I can stop the flow, I can stop the column compartment temperature stabilisation, but I can't turn off the lamp. Perhaps it's indeed Patch Time.

Thanks for your help! I will let you now when I get reply from Dionex.

Provided it's already available.

We'll see what Dionex Softron answers.
The problem lies in that in order to run an Agilent 1260 on Chromeleon 7.1 you will have to using the Agilent ICF (it will have been installed at the same time as Chromeleon). As such all instrument functionality is controlled by the Agilent portion of the software.
I would look to set up a seperate program file named as shutdown or equivalent and add this as an extra injection at the end of the sequence (you can always set the injection volume in Chromeleon to 0 uL to make a blank injection).
If you do this I believe you can have your lamp off in the seperate program. If not let me know and I'll have a look at how it's done on one of our systems.
Hi Pawel!

I had the same problem to shutdown my Agilent 1200 under Chromeleon 7.1 and Agilent ICF and we got no support from Dionex!
I solved the problem in the following way:

1. Add to your instument method at "initial time" the command "LCSystem.Mode" with the value "default"
2. Create a second instument method in your sequenz (I named it "shutdown") with the command "LCSystem.Mode" with the value "shutdown". You can also add column flushing, flow rampe down and set the stop time to e.g. 30 min
3. Create a sequenz and run your samples with your instrument method. Set a (blank)run as last line in your sequenz with the instrument method "shutdown". After the stop time of the last run the system turns off all agilent modules

Since ICF is written by Agilent, help should come supposedly from Agilent as well.
It does not however excuse Dionex at no circumstances from directing Chromeleon users in need of such support to Agilent helpdesk.

Unfortunately, I do like you said and it does not work. Perhaps I make it incorrect.

Also did not get help from Dionex.
The Method looks correct. However, you can try to insert the command "LCSystem.Mode = Shutdown" in the stage "Stop run" as last line.
I hope it works this way!

Yep, seems that's the culprit.
At initial time LCSystem shuts down, but at time 0.000 LCSystem gets ready again.
Sequence of commands matters.
