FID Sensitivity: 6890 vs. 7890

Hello --

I am curious to know whether there is a sensitivity difference between a 7890-FID and a 6890-FID? Assuming both detectors were in optimized states. Is there even a difference in the hardware - is a 6890 FID compatible with a 7890 chassis and electronics?

Although the basic hardware of the detectors is the same for 6890 and 7890, the electronics and gas control modules are completely different.

According to Agilent 5889-3290EN and 5989-6317EN (6890 and 7890 data sheets respectively) FID sensitivities are expressed as minimum detectable level (for tridecane). For both detectors values are the same < 1.8 pg C/s.
Can't compare practical sensitivities.

I run both of them for petroleum hydrocarbon stuff - pretty much equivalent response - a standard from the 7890 will pass a cailbration generated on the 6890.

Thank you all for the responses. Just as I figured, there really is no advantage to buying a refurbished 7890 vs. a refurbished 6890 (at least in terms of FID sensitivity).
