hello everyone, can you help me? how I can keep track of organic reactions to determine the yield of the reactions with an internal standard in GC.
thanks
Real time analysis is impossible if you are using a GC. If your reaction time is large, and if you have a GC-MS system with a TCD, you can set up a method that will take a sample every 15-20 minutes. Gas products can be analysed using the front detector(generally a TCD) while the MS can analyse the organics. You need a method that incorporates a temperature ramp so that your mixture does not leave any liquid residue inside the system.
Depends on how you define real time. There are plenty of process GC's that are looking at streams in industry. Unfortunately, the question is so vague as to make useful response almost impossible.

We have an app note for separating two compounds in "real time" every 20 seconds 8) All depends on the application required , we need lots more details.
