dynamic headspace

Hi at all
some of you has never tried dynamic headspace from Perkin Elmer?
I'm interested in this instr, and my big question is about a possibility of trap bypass. Is possible to use it in "static mode" without loss of performance?
Actually we have turbomatrix and we are satisfied, but we need a gain in sensitivity
Thanks

SPME headspace will increase sensitivity by two, three orders of magnitude or more over static headspace.
Give Supelco a call for assistance.
best wishes,

hi Rod, we process hundred of samples and some of thes are waste waters...so i'm concerned about robustness of fib
er in high stress conditions. Also carryover with spme may be a problem imho
No one has dynamic hs in lab? This also may be a problem

OK, good to know about HOW MANY samples you are processing.
What analytes and what matrices are you processing?
What are the present limits of detection you are achieving?
How LOW do you want to go?
Traps with dynamic headspace is not always a 'fast' technique, either, and it can be prone to carryover. There are limitations with either technique.

Hi, actually we need to process 150/200 samples a day (eventually with two or more instruments)
Our matrices are 80% water (groundwater, wastewater ) and 20% soil with target analytes ranging from vinyl chloride to naphtalene (VOC 53+6)
Ideally we need to reach for some projects limits close to p&t level (ie 0.1ppb): additional complication come from fact we need to split sample to two detector (ms&fid with capillary flow) so a gain in sensitivity is welcome.
In lab we have many purge e trap, but autosampler archon is prone to blockage and we want to consider alternative: obviously sensitivity need to remain the same...
Thank you

Purge and trap is the best solution for you. If you are unhappy with the Archon, which is being discontinued next month anyway, try the Centurion

my lab is established in italy, so i have restricted range of manufacturer to choose
I think is very important to obtain good aftersales service...
How many centurion are installed in Italy?
Anyway, no one answered my original question..is possible to bypass trap to work in static "classic" mode?
I start to think no one has dynamic HS in the world

You can contact SRA Instruments and they can help you.
